Prospectus and Admissions

Welcome to Linby!

Admission to our Primary School is open to everyone! We serve the communities of Hucknall, Linby, Papplewick and the surrounding area. We are a Church of England school, but welcome children and their families from all faiths and none.

Our school is unique; we offer a small family atmosphere where all the children are known, their gifts recognised and children valued for who they are.

With small year groups, each family has a close relationship with staff and each child knows every other by name. This means that once the children take their place at National Academy, they know a sea of familiar faces! Children at Linby achieve well, because any gaps in learning are identified and interventions personally tailored to support the children to help them to achieve the best outcomes they can.

But that is not all! With Breakfast and After School provision (beginning September 2023), the offer your child receives at Linby is varied and exciting!

This year, our additional offer has included; a whole school Pantomime visit, specialist training in Hockey and table tennis, KS2 choir performance at the Young Voices Concert at Sheffield Arena, a whole school Values Day, First Aid Training, weekly visits to Sherwood House Care Home, a whole school celebration of King Charles III Coronation, Quiz Club, Craft Club, Prayer Club, Resilience Champion Team, Team Sports Day, Family Sports evening, Family School Camp and trips to PGL, Safety Zone at The National Watersports Centre, The National Space Centre, Papplewick Pumping Station, Southwell Minster, Arc Cinema and Magna!

Changing School in-year

An in-year application is for children requiring a school place during the school year, rather than at the usual transfer time. All SNMAT academies have opted into their respective Local Authorities in Year coordinated schemes. If you are looking to apply in year for a Nottinghamshire School this can be done by visiting: Changing school in-year | Nottinghamshire County Council

Right of Appeal

Under the terms of the School Admissions Appeals Code 2021, if you apply for and are refused a place at an SNMAT partner academy you have the right to appeal.

Admission Appeals at all (Nottinghamshire) SNMAT academies are managed by Nottinghamshire County Council, who provide an independent appeals process.  If you decide that you wish to proceed with an appeal, you should within 20 school days of the date of the refusal letter complete the online form on Nottinghamshire County Council’s website:

https://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/education/school-admissions/appeal-a-school-admission-decision?

For parents/carers who are unable to use the online form, a printed form can requested from our customer contact centre – 0300 500 80 80.

Appeals at SNMAT academies will be heard by an Independent Appeals Panel in accordance with the School Admissions Code 2021, The School Admissions Appeals Code 2022 and Part 3 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.
